Jonah - I loved going to Clingmans dome. We drove through the national park and up a long road to the top of the mountain. Clingmans dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. At the top, you can see the state border between North Carolina and Tennessee. You can also see Lake Fontana (link) - which is one of my favorite places. There are lots of spruce and fir trees. The trail to the top looks like a marble track.

It is a fun place to go with your family. You can take a picnic or a package of Oreos - that is what we ate when we went with my grandparents and our funny cousin. There are big boulders to climb on near the gift shop. Clingmans Dome is about one hour from Hideaway Point.
