Rhythm • Time away

Getting to the Point is the Hideaway Point blog. It is the place where we share our larger vision for this special place - what inspires us, what we value and the hopes and dreams we have for Hideaway Point.

Generous friends gifted us time at their home on the South Island. The beauty of Gods creation has been a touch point in my life and our family story... foundational and grounding in seasons when we have needed to pause and regain perspective.

We had an opportunity to overlap with the owners of the home for a few days when I first arrived. Their hospitality was a gift - reminding us of the heart behind why we bought Hideaway Point.

On the recommendation of the owners - we did an overnight hike to a beautiful place called Temple Valley. It was the first time we had camped on the South Island… and actually the first time we backpacked and tent camped. We’ve done several hut hikes - and several of us have done backpacking trips… but never as a whole family.

We are well past the season of carrying squirmy babies and extra gear - I had the lightest pack - it was bittersweet. I am thankful for the gift of time that we got with these amazing humans. What a privilege it is to be their parent. I am thankful for the “potent” memories we made on this trip. Overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion.

We believe in the power of retreat and would love to help you imagine what time away at Hideaway Point could look like for you and your family, community, organization or business. Let us know how we can help.
